Overview
In this role you lead Softcat’s Credit Underwriting and Risk team within the Finance function, overseeing credit exposure and risk controls for a growing IT solutions business. You partner with sales, finance, and external stakeholders to ensure effective credit decisions and maintain robust risk management. You will review high-exposure portfolios, facilitate due diligence, and communicate outcomes to internal and external parties. Responsibilities
- Perform credit checks on new and potential suppliers within set DOA
- Review recommendations from Credit Underwriter 1 and 2 and provide feedback
- Review portfolios with high exposure, conduct direct meetings to understand the business
- Review extended payment term requests at order level with thorough due diligence
- Assess creditworthiness of Softcat’s customer base including new customers
- Articulate credit check outcomes to Account Managers in writing or verbally with rationale
- Assess customers with high credit limits outside DOA, and advise internal stakeholders
- Provide support to Deputy Credit Risk Manager
- Host team meetings and present updates on industry risk or high-risk customers
Key requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar underwriting role
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to build relationships across the business
- Ability to identify areas for positive change and implement them
