Senior Civil Engineer (Perm)

Overview

In this role you will lead civil engineering design across a range of sectors within a collaborative Civil & Structural team. You will prepare and review drainage, roads, earthworks, and infrastructure schemes, coordinating with clients and stakeholders. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with UK standards, planning procedures, and approvals. You will contribute to project planning, fee proposals, and champion sustainability and low-carbon outcomes. Responsibilities

• Lead civil engineering design across residential, commercial, education, and healthcare projects
• Prepare and oversee detailed civil designs including drainage, roads, earthworks and infrastructure
• Conduct site inspections, feasibility studies, and technical assessments
• Collaborate with clients, architects and stakeholders to meet project requirements
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
• Ensure designs comply with current legislation and design standards
• Coordinate with local authorities and statutory bodies for planning and approvals
• Contribute to fee proposals, project planning and resource management
• Champion sustainability and low-carbon engineering

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered or near Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
• Minimum 5–8 years post-graduate experience
• Proven ability to manage and deliver civil engineering design projects
• Strong understanding of UK design standards, building regulations, and planning procedures
• Proficient in Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, and AutoCAD
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills
