Lead Product Designer

Overview

As Lead Product Designer at Motorway, you will raise the ceiling for design within a fast-growing scale-up. You’ll own complex design challenges across the full product lifecycle, mentor peers, and shape how the team works and crafts outcomes. You’ll pioneer AI-backed design, collaborate closely with engineering and product, and advocate for users through research and data. This role combines strategic influence with hands-on delivery to scale our product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Own complex, ambiguous product challenges from discovery to deployment, delivering clear user experiences at scale
• Lead the integration of AI into design workflows while maintaining human-centered craft
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data analysts to connect user insights with business goals
• Mentor designers and contribute to a culture of high performance and inclusive participation
• Drive design culture through rituals, workshops, and cross-team collaboration
• Champion continuous improvement by refining design principles and staying updated with new tools and methods

Key requirements

• Senior or Lead Product Designer with experience shipping digital products on web and mobile
• Hands-on experience shipping code or building high-fidelity tools/prototypes
• Experience across B2C and B2B product landscapes
• Strategic use of AI in design with balance to human judgment
• Commercial acumen and ability to tie design decisions to business outcomes
• Proficiency in design/prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Claude, Kiro) and strong user-centered design methods
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and research synthesis
• Bonus: experience in optimizing journeys via experimentation or in fast-paced two-sided marketplaces
