Health and Safety Manager – Asset and Property Management

Overview

In this role you will champion a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture across Bidwells’ national property portfolio. You will lead strategic safety initiatives, embed risk management, and drive continuous improvement for a wide client and stakeholder base. Working with the IPM team and senior leaders, you’ll shape safety standards and share best practices across the business. This is an opportunity to influence decision‑making and strengthen Bidwells’ health, safety and risk culture on a nationally significant portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture across a national property portfolio
• Develop and implement health and safety strategies aligned with legislation, industry best practice and client expectations
• Deliver audits, inspections and assurance programmes to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities
• Provide expert advice on key health and safety legislation (CDM, Building Safety Act, Health & Safety at Work Act)
• Support contractor management and supply chain assurance for safe, compliant working practices
• Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identify root causes and embed lessons learned
• Produce insightful reports for senior leaders and clients to drive informed decisions
• Coach and support colleagues through training, mentoring and building health and safety capability across the business
• Contribute to maintaining ISO 45001 and support wider initiatives to continually raise standards

Key requirements

• Previous experience in a Health & Safety management role
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relating to commercial property environments
• Understanding of facilities management operations and service delivery
• Experience implementing and maintaining health and safety management systems and processes
• Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Pragmatic, solutions-focused with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Confident communicator with ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients and senior leaders
