Technical Manager – Residential Developer – London

Overview

In this role you will lead the technical and design effort for multiple new-build residential developments in London, stepping up from Senior Technical Coordinator/Project Architect to Technical Manager. You will oversee the technical/design team, ensure working drawings are delivered on time, and collaborate with architectural, commercial, and production teams to drive project success. This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary leadership position focused on design quality, compliance, and timely delivery within a growing residential developer. You will shape technical strategies and manage programme-driven challenges to support project objectives.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full working drawings packages for projects
• Coordinate with architectural team to ensure timely package delivery
• Liaise with commercial and production teams during development
• Lead and supervise the technical/design team
• Identify and manage critical path and programme milestones
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and sustainability goals
• Interpret and negotiate design information across disciplines
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders across levels

Key requirements

• 7+ years’ experience with a residential developer on multiple new-build developments
• Strong knowledge of development/technical design processes
• Proven experience in detailed design for residential schemes (RC frame and timber frame)
• Ability to question and verify design information across disciplines
• Architectural background; AutoCAD knowledge is beneficial
• Understanding of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and sustainability requirements
• Ability to interrogate design and project programmes and identify Critical Paths
• Degree level education or a relevant professional qualification
• Strong communication and organizational skills; able to manage people, processes, and time
• Team player with cross-functional collaboration with commercial and production teams
