Overview

As Legal Counsel in a growing technology business, you will shape commercial and tech-related legal decisions to support growth. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to manage legal risk and enable strategic initiatives. The role combines negotiating complex contracts with advisory support on compliance and governance. This is a high-visibility, no.2 position reporting to the General Counsel in Bristol, offering exposure to international projects and innovative tech matters.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements with customers, suppliers and partners
• Manage technology contracts including software licensing, cloud services, data processing and NDAs
• Advise senior stakeholders on legal and commercial risks with pragmatic solutions
• Support intellectual property, data protection and regulatory compliance efforts
• Develop and implement internal legal policies, procedures and governance frameworks
• Coordinate with external advisers for specialist matters
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise on business impact
• Lead negotiations and manage contractual relationships to drive commercial success while protecting interests

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent)
• 4+ years PQE in-house and/or private practice
• Experience negotiating/drafting complex commercial agreements in tech, FinTech, software, outsourcing or business services
• Expertise in technology contracts including software licensing and cloud-based services
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with senior leadership
• Excellent analytical skills and commercial judgment
