Site Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you ensure optimal environmental conditions on site and deliver planned and reactive maintenance for M&E systems. You will assess and improve building performance, working with BGIS and site stakeholders to keep systems like air conditioning, UPS, and generators reliable. You’ll apply risk assessments, manage subcontractors, and maintain accurate records to support safe, compliant operations. This opportunity lets you shape on-site engineering excellence within a large facilities management team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine PPM on mechanical & electrical plant per site schedules and asset lists
• Complete reactive tasks and identify improvement opportunities; handle related fabric and stores items
• Manage subcontractors: approvals, safe operation, and on-site service/repair oversight
• Operate Permit to Work system per BGIS QHS procedures and client requirements
• Swiftly address plant faults to keep equipment in service
• Provide spare parts lists and timelines for remedial works
• Ensure timely completion and proper filing of reactive/breakdown paperwork to contract administrator
• Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments to ensure safe work practices
• Supervise on-site subcontractors for maintenance activities
• Maintain accurate data in the CMMS (Maximo) and ensure tickets are closed with proper records
• Develop site safety culture: near misses, dynamic risk assessments, and escalation of non-compliance
• Monitor building environmental conditions via BMS to maintain acceptable internal conditions
• Foster professional image of BGIS with clients and maintain clean, secure plant rooms
• Ensure all assigned tasks are completed with proper H&S awareness
• Adhere to contractual KPI/SLA targets and support continuous improvement
• Other tasks as directed by site management
• Support coordination with BGIS staff, subcontractors, and client representatives
• Ensure LOTO system operation aligns with QHS and client requirements
