Research Scientist, Provenance, DeepMind

Overview

As a Research Scientist in Strategic Initiatives, you apply broad machine learning expertise to tackle key strategic challenges in collaboration with researchers and ML engineers. You will report progress and findings clearly to internal and external audiences, and actively propose cross-team collaborations to advance the science program. You will work on high-impact problems spanning robustness, synthetic media provenance, and data trustworthiness, contributing to a mission-driven team that pursues transformative AI with safety and ethics at its core.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers and ML engineers to develop novel ML approaches addressing strategic problems
• Report and present research findings and progress clearly to internal and external audiences
• Suggest and engage in cross-team collaborations to achieve research goals
• Apply ML expertise to solve meaningful problems within strategic initiatives programs
• Contribute to a public example of recent work (e.g., SynthID) and pursue additional projects across disciplines

Key requirements

• PhD in Machine Learning or equivalent research/industry experience
• Experience in scripting languages and pipelining tools
• Experience in programming
• Published work in an ML conference on robustness or image/video generation or classification
• Quantitative experience in maths and statistics
