Data Scientist Manager

Overview

As Data Scientist Manager at Kainos, you will lead delivery of advanced AI and ML solutions and promote scalable, cloud-native architectures. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders to shape architectural principles and strategic direction, while mentoring a team to grow engineering excellence. The role sits in our AI and Data Practice, driving responsible AI and innovative delivery at citizen-scale. You’ll influence projects through technical leadership and foster a culture of learning and impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of advanced AI/ML solutions and ensure high-quality outcomes
• Drive adoption of modern AI development and scalable cloud-native architectures
• Provide technical leadership: architecture, product design principles, engineering excellence
• Coach and develop the team; establish standards, policies, and client relationships
• Engage with senior stakeholders to define requirements, architecture concepts, and strategic direction
• Guide the team in solving challenging problems and uplifting commercial acumen

Key requirements

• 2.1 degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Statistics or similar quantitative field
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary AI/ML delivery teams
• Demonstrated technical leadership for AI delivery (architecture, product design, engineering excellence)
• Strong understanding of AI/ML models (time series, supervised/unsupervised, reinforcement learning, LLMs)
• Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, and agentic AI
• Strong Python and software engineering practices (CI/CD, testing, code reviews)
• Data engineering expertise for AI with large-scale, unstructured, multimodal data
• Understanding of responsible AI, model interpretability, and ethics
• Strong interpersonal skills to lead client projects and manage C-level stakeholders
• Experience coaching and developing junior team members
