Data Scientist

Overview

In this role, you will develop and deploy data science solutions for the Digital Defence Services team, enabling advanced analytics and machine learning for secure, multi‑domain data exploitation. You’ll work within a broader security consulting community to deliver impactful insights for government and commercial clients. The role combines hands-on ML development with production deployment, monitoring, and cross‑functional collaboration. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test data collection, integration, and preparation pipelines for analytics and ML applications
• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends and actionable insights
• Prototype and evaluate ML models, assess feasibility and impact
• Deploy ML solutions end-to-end, including production integration and monitoring
• Monitor model performance and identify degradation or optimization opportunities
• Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to improve tools and workflows
• Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
• Research emerging AI/ML techniques to enhance systems
• Ensure ML practices comply with ethical standards and governance frameworks
• Provide ML guidance and mentorship across cross-functional teams

Key requirements

• strong foundation in data science, analytics, or ML with hands-on model development
• proficiency in Python and ML ecosystem (pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• experience deploying models into live systems and operationalising ML (APIs, integration, Docker)
• ability to monitor deployed models, detect drift, and trigger retraining
• awareness of ethical/governance considerations in ML at scale
• strong communication skills for diverse audiences
• ability to work in cross-functional teams and take ownership of projects
• UK National and MoD/Partner DV clearance requirements
