Vice President, Procurement – Data Center Infrastructure

Overview

As VP, Procurement – Data Center Infrastructure you will lead Equinix’s global procurement strategy for major capital equipment, power solutions, and infrastructure programs. You’ll build supplier capacity, improve delivery outcomes, and guide cross-functional teams through complex construction portfolios. The role combines strategic sourcing, negotiation, and stakeholder leadership to support mission-critical data center projects. Responsibilities

• Define and optimize global procurement strategies for capital equipment, power infrastructure, and construction-related categories; ensure seamless project delivery
• Translate long-range construction plans into integrated sourcing and supplier capacity strategies with multi-year demand commitments
• Act as strategic partner to Construction, Design, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, Sustainability, and regional leaders
• Provide clear executive reporting on program performance, supply risk, cost, and schedule
• Lead major capital equipment programs and manage significant spend across critical equipment and services
• Develop a resilient supplier ecosystem to support concurrent projects globally
• Lead complex commercial negotiations with Legal and stakeholders to secure favorable outcomes
• Use cost analysis, financial modeling, and market intelligence to improve sourcing decisions and mitigate inflation
• Oversee warehousing and logistics to align with project schedules
• Establish governance, KPIs, and continuous improvement across procurement programs
• Collaborate with project teams from inception to go-live to ensure procurement alignment with business case
• Ensure application of global procurement standards while enabling regional execution
• Identify and mitigate delivery, capacity, and supplier risks early with cross-functional plans
• Steer procurement strategy for power infrastructure working with utilities, developers, and suppliers
• Support grid planning, substations, onsite generation, renewables, and new power tech
• Evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to improve design, cost, speed, and resilience
• Promote responsible sourcing and align with Equinix sustainability commitments
• Lead, develop, and retain a diverse global procurement organization

Key requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, construction procurement, or related fields with leadership of global portfolios
• Extensive experience supporting major construction, engineering, infrastructure or capital-intensive programs
• Proven ability to develop category strategies, secure supplier capacity, and negotiate complex high-value agreements
• Experience leading concurrent programs across geographies in a global, matrixed organization
• Strong skills in cost analysis, project economics, financial modeling, market intelligence, and data-driven decision-making
• Experience building strategic supplier relationships and influencing senior executives across the supply chain
• 10+ years of people leadership, with a track record of building global teams
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, engineering, energy management or related field; master’s preferred
• Experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or digital infrastructure is preferred but not required
• Exposure to power procurement, utilities, grid interconnections, substations, onsite generation is advantageous
• Knowledge of global construction standards, commissioning, and go-live processes is preferred
