Civil Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to the design and delivery of major UK water infrastructure projects, including potable water mains and drainage schemes, within a collaborative team. You will work across AMP8 programmes to support water authorities, delivering technically challenging designs while progressing towards professional accreditation. You’ll engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure quality, compliance, and timely delivery, making a meaningful impact on public water infrastructure. This opportunity combines hands-on engineering with strong development support and a clear path to chartership.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Design and assess potable water mains, drainage, SuDS, and conventional drainage schemes
• Perform technical calculations, modelling, and reporting
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
• Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities
• Take ownership to solve engineering challenges and deliver projects successfully

Key requirements

• 3+ years’ experience in the UK water industry
• Experience in potable, surface, and/or foul water design or construction
• Civil Engineering degree (Master’s preferred)
• Progress towards or desire for ICE or CIWEM accreditation
• Experience with MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, or similar 3D design/modelling software
• Knowledge of Water Authority approval processes (S104/S106)
• Experience with SuDS Approval Bodies
• Strong time-management and multi-project capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and within a team
