Associate Director – Cost Consultancy – MEP

Overview

In this role you drive full-cycle cost management for large, complex projects in manufacturing and technology sectors. You work within a commercial team to shape feasibility, business cases and procurement strategies, ensuring value and cost control from design through to final accounts. You act as a key interface with clients and consultants, leading cost planning, procurement, reporting and post-contract variances. You will also support market growth and team development in a fast-evolving environment focused on manufacturing, data centres and advanced technologies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies, business cases and procurement reports
• Apply value management at project outset
• Own and present final cost plan and manage estimating and cost planning
• Oversee procurement stages: prequalification, enquiry, analysis, selection and contract prep
• Manage post-contract cost variances and change control
• Oversee cost checking, valuation work and monthly post-contract reports
• Participate actively in meetings and client discussions
• Lead value engineering and life-cycle costing
• Negotiate final accounts and obtain client agreement
• Serve as interface with client and other consultants across project stages
• Marketing and business development in your sector; support regional promotion
• Provide line management and recruitment oversight

Key requirements

• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, sustainability technology and modern methods of construction
• Experience in manufacturing and technology sector; advanced manufacturing projects or data centres
• Track record of winning and delivering work for private and public sector clients
• Knowledge of contracts, estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling
• Negotiation, influencing and communication skills
• Digital savviness; ability to build client relationships and lead high-performing teams
• Cost consultancy practice and drive to grow career
