Associate Fire Engineer

Overview

As an Associate Fire Engineer in Birmingham, you will provide expert fire safety guidance within a well-established multidisciplinary team. You’ll lead and develop fire consultancy services across public and private sector clients, shaping safety outcomes on diverse projects. The role combines technical delivery with client liaison, site visits, and mentoring of colleagues to raise standards. This is a collaborative, hybrid role that offers growth through APC mentoring and involvement in complex fire safety programmes.

Responsibilities

• Assist or manage a team of fire consultants
• Provide advice to the Partner and support bid/document completion
• Ensure quality assurance and client compliance
• Visit sites to deliver a broad range of fire consultancy services
• Provide fire safety guidance, training, and expert advice to clients
• Liaise with enforcing authorities on behalf of clients
• Advise on Fire Safety standards and best practices
• Contribute to development of the Fire Consultancy Service and financial reporting

Key requirements

• Level 5 minimum qualification in Fire Discipline
• Robust knowledge of UK fire safety legislation
• Strong technical delivery experience
• Membership of IFE / IFSM or equivalent
• Proven ability to direct and manage complex projects
• Track record in line management and development of team members
• Experience in developing new relationships and securing new business
