Health, Safety and Security Advisor – London or Newcastle upon Tyne

Overview

As Health, Safety & Security Advisor, you will shape and govern safety and security practices across the business, aligning with ISO 45001 and ENGIE Group standards. You’ll support risk management, incident investigation, and wellbeing initiatives, while coordinating with HR and security teams to protect staff and assets. You will coach leaders, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement in safety and security culture. This role offers impact across international projects and cross-functional teams in a forward-looking, collaborative firm.

Responsibilities

• Govern H&S governance, roadmap and systems in line with ISO 45001 and RED policies
• Provide risk assessment, incident prevention, legal compliance, and safe systems of work support
• Lead incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and corrective action tracking with escalation pathways
• Monitor H&S indicators and coordinate external audits, renewals and client requests
• Coach and influence stakeholders to strengthen H&S ownership and engagement
• Design and deliver H&S training, inductions and awareness campaigns
• Collaborate with HR on wellbeing and psychosocial risk management and action tracking
• Participate in H&S committees and knowledge-sharing forums
• Prepare and present H&S metrics and outcomes to management and ENGIE stakeholders
• Support security governance, travel security checks and office/site security coordination
• Coordinate travel security with International SOS, risk assessments and KPI reporting
• Guide Office Managers on site security coordination and incident reporting
• Consolidate travel and site security KPIs and lessons learned

Key requirements

• 8+ years in H&S, security, risk or operational advisory role
• ISO 45001 experience beneficial; H&S qualification or professional membership desirable
• Strong knowledge of H&S management systems, UK legislation, CDM for engineering design consultants
• Familiarity with travel security, duty of care, incident escalation and site security coordination
• Strong analytical, reporting and improvement skills
• Understanding of wellbeing and psychosocial risk management, RED policies and HR collaboration
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, coaching and influencing skills
• Organised, autonomous and proficient in Microsoft Office; fluent English; French/Dutch advantageous
• Understanding of H&S, security and risk in engineering consultancy/construction/international business
