External Cleaning

Overview

In this role you support a hospital cleaning service by maintaining a safe, welcoming environment across QA Hospital. You’ll work as part of the Patient Services team, handling outdoor and on-site cleaning tasks in all weather to uphold cleanliness and infection-control standards. Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of clinical and domestic waste from grounds, residences and on-site areas
• Sweep hospital entrances, pathways, roadways, car parks and other areas as required
• Empty bins and replace bin bags
• Clear leaf litter, cigarette butts and litter around the site
• Carry out minor maintenance tasks within hospital grounds (e.g., small equipment cleaning)
• Lift and transport furniture, stores and stock; handle very heavy items when needed
• Perform duties as directed by service needs; may be allocated to different hospitals/areas
• Demonstrate excellent communication to defuse tense situations and work with security when needed
• Move beds, chairs and equipment during Major Incidents or Fire as directed
• Maintain personal and professional development; adhere to policies (Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, No Smoking)
• Respect confidentiality and Data Protection requirements
• Adhere to infection-control policies and practice proper hand hygiene

Key requirements
