Senior Construction Project Manager

Overview

As a Chartered Senior Project Manager, you will lead large, complex construction initiatives from inception to delivery. You’ll ensure educational infrastructure meets high quality and governance standards within government frameworks. You will work with architects, engineers, contractors, and government stakeholders to drive on-time, on-budget outcomes. The role combines strong project governance, risk management, and mentorship to elevate team performance. This is a chance to shape impactful educational projects and advance public sector delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of large-scale construction projects to meet time, budget, and quality targets
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans aligned with Department for Education requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, engineers, contractors, government stakeholders) to achieve objectives
• Establish and oversee project governance, processes, and systems across the lifecycle
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to ensure resilience
• Monitor finances and manage change control in line with government regulations
• Facilitate clear communication through meetings, reports, and required documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental regulations and government procurement standards
• Mentor junior project managers to develop capabilities and uphold chartered standards

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Construction Management
• Demonstrable experience in managing large-scale construction projects in the education sector
• PMP certification
• Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
• Strong knowledge of construction processes and industry best practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Primavera
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build and maintain client, contractor, and team relationships
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Experience in a consultancy environment is preferred
• Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and LEED certification is a plus
