Overview

You will lead project controls across Stantec’s Canada West Power Delivery portfolio, driving scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and reporting. As a key interface with BC Hydro and Delivery Center resources, you’ll standardize processes, mentor project teams, and support portfolio performance. The role combines governance, process development, and hands-on project administration to enable safe, high-quality, on-time project delivery. Responsibilities

  • Act as the project controls lead for the Canada West Power Delivery portfolio
  • Promote consistency in scheduling, cost control, forecasting, reporting, change management, and project administration
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on project controls requirements using established processes
  • Support monitoring and reporting of portfolio performance
  • Support project pursuit and setup activities including controls estimation and WBS setup
  • Assist project managers with budget monitoring, forecasting, and EOC reviews
  • Coordinate monthly project budget and schedule updates and forecasts
  • Support management of change and implementation of approved change orders
  • Review schedule quality and forecast completion dates
  • Develop and improve project controls procedures, templates, and best practices
  • Create onboarding materials and reference documentation for BC Hydro project controls
  • Identify opportunities for automation and standardization
  • Support the development and maintenance of portfolio reporting dashboards and metrics
  • Coordinate monthly reporting at project and portfolio levels
  • Produce and distribute project controls reports for leadership
  • Support forecasting and project prioritization based on schedules and resource forecasting
  • Serve as primary BC Hydro interface for portfolio-wide controls matters
  • Coordinate with BC Hydro control, contract management, and management personnel on schedules, reporting, and performance
  • Support responses to BC Hydro requests related to controls and performance reporting
  • Interface with Delivery Center leadership to support project delivery requirements
  • Coordinate onboarding and training plans for new resources supporting BC Hydro projects
  • Train and mentor staff on BC Hydro-specific controls and reporting requirements
  • Support competency development of personnel for BC Hydro projects

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling, or project management support
  • Experience supporting engineering and infrastructure projects
  • Proficiency with Oracle and Primavera P6
  • Experience with data reporting/visualization platforms (Power BI) is an asset
  • Experience working with BC Hydro or similar utility is preferred
  • Strong understanding of scheduling, forecasting, cost control, and change management
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management
  • Ability to train, mentor, and influence multidisciplinary teams
