Civil Construction Manager

Overview

In this role you lead civil delivery for a £100M water and wastewater project in East London, driving safe, on-time construction across multiple streams. You’ll work with project leadership, designers and subcontractors to ensure quality, compliance and programme adherence in a high-profile, infrastructure upgrade. The position focuses on delivering a complex scheme that enhances network resilience and long-term capacity. You will shape project execution in a fast-paced, high-value environment and collaborate with clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all civil construction activities on-site
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
• Monitor programme progress and address risks and delays
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, and planning teams to ensure smooth delivery
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and reporting to senior management
• Drive continuous improvement across construction processes
• Ensure works are delivered in line with specifications, budget, and programme milestones
• Maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies

Key requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager on large-scale civil infrastructure projects
• Strong background in water and wastewater treatment projects (preferred but not essential if from similar heavy civils sectors)
• Experience working for a Tier 1 or major contractor
• Solid understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methodologies
• Demonstrable track record delivering high-value (50M+) projects
• Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Strong knowledge of UK health & safety regulations and standards
• Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (degree or equivalent)
• SMSTS and CSCS required
