Overview
As an Employment Law Solicitor in Cardiff, you will handle a high-quality mix of contentious and non-contentious matters for a diverse client base. You will work within the established employment team to manage complex caseloads, advise on strategy, and support business leaders on HR processes and restructuring. The role blends litigation and advisory work, offering exposure to tribunal advocacy, contract drafting, and policy development. You will contribute to the growth of the team and the firm’s employment practice in a collaborative, client-centric environment. This is a technically focused, commercially minded role with opportunities for progression and Welsh language development.

Responsibilities
- Manage contentious Employment Tribunal litigation from instruction to conclusion
- Draft pleadings, manage disclosure, and prepare witness statements
- Advise on complex claims including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair/constructive dismissal, equal pay, breach of contract and redundancy disputes
- Conduct or support advocacy at preliminary hearings and settlement discussions
- Provide strategic guidance on disputes, risk management and settlement strategy
- Draft, negotiate and advise on employment contracts, service agreements, policies and handbooks
- Advise on internal HR processes (disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability)
- Deliver advice and documentation for restructuring and redundancy exercises
- Support corporate transactions with due diligence, warranties, indemnities and TUPE advice
- Provide commercial, timely advice to business owners, HR professionals and senior management
- Conduct or assist with complex disciplinary, grievance or whistleblowing investigations
Key requirements
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5-8 years’ PQE
- Experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment law
- Ability to manage a varied caseload autonomously
- Strong drafting experience (contracts, policies, settlement agreements)
- Experience managing Employment Tribunal cases from start to finish
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Relationship building and high-quality client service
- Commercially minded with practical, business-friendly approach
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
