Community Old Age Consultant Psychiatrist Havering

Overview

In this role you will lead clinical care for older adults with mental health needs within Havering’s Old Age Community Mental Team. You will provide clinical leadership, supervise the team, and work with patients, families and other services to improve pathways of care. Your work shapes service development and reinforces Trust values of kindness, respect and partnership with communities. The position offers a well-supported multidisciplinary environment and opportunities to influence care across primary and secondary settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to the team
• Direct patient care for older adults with mental health needs
• Liaise with inpatient, crisis, and community psychiatrists across the care pathway
• Develop links across mental health pathways and primary care networks in Havering
• Contribute to service development, governance and cross-team collaboration
• Teach and supervise trainees and junior doctors; participate in education
• Use the Trust’s electronic case record system effectively
• Act as line manager for resident doctors
• Support integration of new staff and team-wide training initiatives
• Promote integrated care and co-production in service development

Key requirements

• Inclusion in/eligibility for the Specialist Register for Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
• Approved Clinician status/eligibility
• Experience in elderly mental health and understanding of biopsychosocial determinants
