Overview
As Principal Fire Engineer you will lead fire engineering deliverables for complex projects within a leading UK consultancy. You will mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and drive multi-project delivery from design through construction. You will advise on fire strategies, calculations, and regulatory compliance while contributing to business strategy and digital innovation. You work across diverse sectors to embed safety at the heart of architectural ambition, shaping impactful, safer buildings.
Pay / Benefits
- 65–90k salary (negotiable)
- Mileage paid 45p per mile
- 27 days holiday + bank holidays (option to buy 10 days)

Responsibilities
- Lead the fire engineering team on multiple projects and ensure timely delivery
- Manage technical aspects of large projects or major components
- Mentor and develop Fire Engineers within the team
- Prepare reports, designs, calculations, and specifications
- Support business strategy and digital innovations
- Develop and manage client relationships and identify new business opportunities
- Attend design team meetings and coordinate with stakeholders
- Oversee project lifecycle including financials, quality management, and customer care
- Provide client-facing support throughout project lifecycles
Key requirements
- Engineering Council Accredited BEng Hons, MEng or MSc
- CEng / IEng or working towards
- MIFIREE or working towards
- Ideally 7+ years’ fire engineering experience
- Experience delivering UK-based fire-engineered solutions
- Familiar with active, passive fire protection systems
- Strong understanding of UK legislation/regulations
- Ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines
- UK driving licence and own vehicle
