Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will act as a senior technical specialist driving electrical design and problem-solving across complex oil and gas projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver concept through detailed design while ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements. You will lead discipline execution on large-scale, multi-discipline projects and mentor engineers, shaping electrical solutions for offshore and onshore facilities. This is a chance to influence major energy infrastructure while supporting safe, sustainable energy delivery. You will engage with customers and authorities, presenting technical solutions and guiding project decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and designs per project specs and standards
• Lead discipline execution on assigned work area, delivering within schedule and budget
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and procedures with clear documentation
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage resources as Lead Engineer
• Approve electrical design basis, specifications, and data sheets
• Review vendor data, submittals, and Q/A to ensure compliance
• Participate in FAT, commissioning, and site activities; support troubleshooting
• Provide technical direction to designers and mentor junior engineers
• Prepare bids, estimates, and technical queries; support procurement and vendor coordination
• Interface with customers, certifying authorities, and auditors; manage changes and variations

Key requirements

• 15-20 years of oil and gas experience with major contractors or consultants (detail design)
• Detailed knowledge of design techniques, codes, and standards
• Project coordination and execution skills
• Registered Professional Engineer or membership in a professional engineering society preferred
• Strong communication and presentation abilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Proven leadership of small to medium engineering teams (as Lead Engineer)
• Experience with discipline interfaces and multi-discipline coordination
