Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview

As Principal Electrical Engineer at Ramboll, you lead electrical design on MEP projects within a multidisciplinary Infrastructure Facilities service line. You’ll manage your own projects, deliver detailed designs to high standards, and maintain strong client relationships. You’ll inspire trust, coordinate resources, and ensure deadlines are met in collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role focuses on advancing sustainable, impactful engineering for diverse sectors, from rail to data centres. Responsibilities

• Represent Ramboll on MEP projects, lead your discipline and, on suitable projects, supervise engineers from allied disciplines
• Work autonomously on technical design aspects with initiative and subject-matter expertise
• Prepare detailed designs and oversee others’ design work
• Build client confidence and strengthen relationships through professional delivery
• Manage project time and tasks to meet deadlines
• When acting as Ramboll project manager, coordinate tasks and allocate resources to ensure deadlines

Key requirements

• Qualified engineer with proven track record in their discipline
• Accredited honours degree or equivalent (CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council) or HNC with progression toward higher education
• Working toward or achieved IEng or CEng status
• Initiative-driven with strong technical leadership capabilities
• Excellent communicator able to simplify complex concepts
• Interest or experience with digital and parametric design tools
