Commercial Manager – Building Construction – London c90,000 plus package

Overview

In this role you will lead commercial delivery on construction projects, safeguarding value and margin through cost control, contract negotiation, and risk management. You will work closely with project teams to uphold governance, provide financial insight, and guide site staff. The position sits within a family-owned, globally active construction business that values trust, value, and innovation. You will help shape project outcomes across Commercial, Industrial, Health and Education sectors, typically for 20–200m projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost and value management across projects with robust systems and procedures
• Oversee financial reporting and cashflow forecasting to aid decision making
• Negotiate contract terms, bonds, warranties and guarantees with clients and stakeholders
• Manage change processes, assess entitlements, and recover where appropriate
• Lead risk and opportunity management with the operations team
• Provide commercial support and training to site staff
• Mentor and develop the commercial team and promote knowledge sharing
• Prepare cost plans for complex projects using appropriate techniques and software
• Analyze project cost reports to inform commercial decisions
• Ensure compliance with company values, health and safety standards and culture

Key requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, Business Administration or related field
• Training in bonds, warranties and insurances
• Training in dispute resolution and contract management
• Training in financial management and cost control
• Leadership training in managing and developing teams
• Training in communication, influencing and negotiation
• Valid CSCS card
