Overview

In this role you support partners and practice groups by ensuring smooth client onboarding, accurate time recording, and efficient billing while upholding compliance. You will work with Finance and Risk & Compliance to manage due diligence, matter setup, and invoice processes. The role blends operations with client care, offering a chance to impact how matters are opened, billed, and governed within a collaborative, high-performance law firm. A meaningful hook is the focus on compliance-driven onboarding and proactive financial hygiene across matters.

Responsibilities

  • Client onboarding, due diligence and compliance activities (AML checks, EID verification, risk assessments)
  • Ongoing client due diligence, sanctions screening, and discrepancy reporting
  • Manage new business intake, ensuring complete forms, accurate matter details, and approvals
  • File due diligence and matter-opening documents in iManage
  • Coordinate onboarding with clients, partners and fee earners on requirements and financial aspects
  • Liaise with fee earners to ensure accurate time recording and timely entry
  • Initiate and manage billing processes (proformas, VAT, rates, currencies, transfers, write-offs, narratives, invoicing)
  • Submit invoices, address client billing queries, update bill trackers
  • Process third-party costs and liaise with third parties for correct month billing
  • Support accounts receivable activities (credit notes, statements, debt management)
  • Support engagement-related tasks (draft engagement letters, pricing budgets, money on account)
  • Manage payments, balances and matter housekeeping (third-party payments, balance checks, closing matters)
  • Maintain client and matter data in InterAction, avoiding duplication
  • Work with technology and systems, staying compliant and learning new tools
  • Pursue continuous improvement and development through available Learning tools
  • Role may include additional tasks as required

Key requirements

  • Good academics; university degree desirable
  • Previous professional services experience desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative team working style
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new tools
