Cyber Security Specialist

Overview

As the first dedicated Cyber Security Specialist in a growing IT function, you will shape security strategy and implement new technologies while building a security governance function. You’ll balance hands-on security work with governance and compliance to protect the organisation. The role offers hybrid working and the chance to influence security culture across the business, collaborating with cross-functional teams to embed security by design.

Responsibilities

• Own the organisation’s cyber security posture and monitor risks
• Identify vulnerabilities and perform risk assessments for new technologies and projects
• Support Information Security compliance in line with UK standards and regulations
• Assist with Cyber Essentials and broader security governance activities
• Recommend and implement security tools, controls, and processes
• Lead Microsoft security projects, including IAM improvements
• Collaborate with technical teams to embed security across infrastructure and development
• Deliver security awareness training and promote best practices
• Advise stakeholders on security risks and practical solutions

Key requirements

• Solid technical background in Cyber Security and Information Security
• Experience with Information Security Compliance / GRC
• Experience with Cyber Essentials
• Microsoft Windows Server
• Microsoft Azure
• Linux environments
• Risk assessments and vulnerability management
• Identity & Access Management
