Scientist Formulation Development

Overview

In this role you will contribute to formulation development and clinical manufacturing, working closely with cross-functional teams to advance complex formulations from early development to clinical batches. You will handle hands-on lab work, report findings, and support technology transfer to commercial manufacturing, within a fast-paced, cGMP-regulated environment. The position offers growth in lipid-based formulations and advanced drug delivery approaches, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and scientific rigor.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop formulations and manufacturing processes for encapsulated drug products in line with project objectives
• Serve as a project contact, coordinating with clients and internal teams to drive progress and overcome challenges
• Plan, execute, and report experimental work to high scientific standards within timelines
• Interpret data, provide conclusions and recommendations to advance projects
• Drive process development including optimisation, scale-up, and robustness studies for clinical and commercial manufacture
• Prepare high-quality client documentation (protocols, technical reports, batch records)
• Oversee small-scale GMP manufacture of technical and clinical batches ensuring regulatory compliance
• Lead technology transfer activities to translate formulations into commercial manufacturing environments
• Provide expert technical support for troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and process optimisation
• Mentor and develop less experienced colleagues to foster team learning and continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry with drug development understanding
• Experience in oral formulation development, preferably liquid-filled hard capsules
• Track record delivering R&D projects from concept to completion
• Strong written and verbal English communication for technical reports and presentations
• Self-motivated and proactive with ability to work independently
• Proficiency in data interpretation and decision-making informed by data
