Senior Cost Consultant – Local Gov & Universities

Overview

As a Senior Cost Consultant in Mace’s Cities and Places sector, you lead end-to-end cost management for large, complex commissions across private and public sectors. You translate client objectives into value-added cost delivery, guiding feasibility, cost planning, procurement, and post-contract reporting. You collaborate with clients and other consultants to shape projects that improve communities and infrastructure. Responsibilities

• Lead feasibility studies, business cases and procurement reporting
• Apply value management at project outset
• Own and present final cost plan; manage estimating and cost planning
• Oversee procurement process from prequalification to contract award
• Control post-contract cost variances and change management
• Oversee cost checking, valuations, and monthly post-contract cost reports
• Participate in meetings and contribute actively
• Conduct value engineering and life cycle costing
• Negotiate and agree final accounts
• Act as a key interface with clients and other consultants
• Support marketing and business development within the sector

Key requirements

• Demonstrable experience delivering service excellence to clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong negotiation, influencing and professional communication skills
• Solid knowledge of contracts, estimating, valuations, cost reporting and financial modelling
• Degree qualification preferred but not essential
• Professional memberships are advantageous but not essential
