Business Data Analyst

Overview

In this contract role, you will translate business needs into data governance and technical requirements within a GCP environment. You will define KPIs, map data sources, and support governance and MDM initiatives, collaborating with sales and other stakeholders. You’ll implement data quality controls with the dbt engine and help build a scalable data platform. This position is remote with occasional site travel, offering an ASAP start on an 8-month contract.

Responsibilities

• Gather and translate business/reporting requirements into data governance and technical data requirements in GCP
• Define, document and map KPIs, metrics, and critical data elements across reporting and operations
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand customer data needs and reporting requirements
• Map reporting requirements to source systems, data feeds, and data warehouse structures in GCP
• Support data governance frameworks and sustainable data operating models
• Contribute to Master Data Management initiatives including data definitions, ownership, and lifecycle management
• Define data quality rules and work with the GCP engineering team to implement governance and quality controls using dbt
• Support data catalogue, finance processes, and customer data mapping across the GCP data platform
• Act as bridge between end users and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions

Key requirements

• Strong experience in business analysis within complex GCP environments
• Hands-on GCP experience, ideally including BigQuery
• Proven experience designing/implementing Data Governance and MDM frameworks
• Experience in gathering and mapping KPI requirements to underlying data sources
• Experience defining data quality rules and governance processes
• Experience with dbt and data warehouse environments
• Strong stakeholder management with non-technical business users
• Experience in customer analytics/data environments (B2B/B2C/retail or sales) is highly desirable
