Senior Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead the design and delivery of software for radar and navigation systems within a specialist engineering team. You will own software from specification through verification, and mentor less experienced colleagues while acting as a technical liaison with customers and partners. You will tackle complex projects and contribute to innovative, profitable products. This is an opportunity to shape end-to-end software in a world-class defence tech environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce software for new, innovative products and solutions following good engineering practice
• Enhance and support existing software in line with commercial needs
• Own specification, design, implementation, testing and maintenance of software for company products and services
• Mentor and support junior colleagues, serving as a role model
• Act as technical liaison with customers, suppliers, and collaborators on software matters
• Undertake additional project tasks as required by management

Key requirements

• Excellent understanding and hands-on experience of C++
• Experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC)
• Good written and verbal English communication
• Proficiency with Microsoft Visual Studio (2022/2026)
• GUI/UX or HCI knowledge desirable
• Scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell advantageous
• Good degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
