Planning Manager

Overview

In this role, you provide strategic leadership for a multidisciplinary planning team across a high-tempo AMP8 framework with United Utilities. You shape planning standards, drive schedule integrity, and manage change alongside stakeholders to support design, construction, commissioning and handover. You influence culture and performance across Enterprise partners, balancing safety, innovation and people development. Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the planning team to enable growth
• Develop planning and project controls standards for consistency
• Perform schedule integrity checks per NEC guidelines
• Manage change control, schedule impacts and revisions
• Produce planning summaries and schedule performance reports for executives
• Oversee programme portfolio and team workloads
• Support Power BI reporting initiatives
• Represent Planning in stakeholder and client meetings
• Coordinate monthly programme updates and client submissions via CEMAR
• Attend monthly client meetings to align progress and programme

Key requirements

• Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Experience in a Senior Planner or Planning Manager role
• Experience delivering multi-disciplinary construction for large capital programmes
• Track record of achieving budget, safety and performance outcomes
• Strong stakeholder management and communication
• Understanding of NEC contract management, baseline and change management
• Highly organized with analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
• Proactive with ability to challenge assumptions and drive outcomes
• Experience facilitating collaborative planning workshops across teams
• Professional certificates in APM PP&C, PMQ or related field
