Associate / Sr Associate – Planning – Bristol – 3-6 Years PQE

Overview

In this role you will advise on planning and infrastructure matters for major projects, supporting a nationally recognised firm’s Planning & Environmental team in Bristol. You will work on Development Consent Orders and other consent regimes, and you’ll collaborate with transactional property teams to provide integrated planning support. You’ll build strong client relationships, contribute to business development, and mentor junior colleagues. Responsibilities

• Advise on planning and infrastructure matters for major projects
• Handle Development Consent Orders and infrastructure examination processes
• Work on Town and Country Planning Act applications and appeals
• Negotiate section 106 and highways agreements
• Provide planning input on transactional work across corporate, real estate, energy and infrastructure
• Collaborate with the Transactional Property Group
• Build client relationships and act as trusted adviser
• Support business development and knowledge sharing with junior colleagues

Key requirements

• Approximately 3–6 years PQE
• Experience advising on DCOs, ICOs and/or major infrastructure regimes
• Strong Town and Country Planning Act experience
• Experience in energy, transport, utilities or regeneration sectors (advantageous)
• Environmental law experience (beneficial but not essential)
• Strong drafting, analytical and technical skills
• Commercial, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Enthusiasm for business development and team collaboration
