Overview

In this role, you will lead the development of a high-end, scalable e-commerce platform in Central London. You will apply PHP and MySQL expertise to shape back-end logic, performance, and data handling while ensuring robust front-end practices with jQuery. You’ll work with Linux-based servers, leveraging caching technologies to optimise responsiveness and scale. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure software that meets business goals. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a high-end, scalable e-commerce platform
• Implement back-end business logic and integrate with front-end practices
• Optimize database performance and implement caching strategies
• Work on Linux servers and server-side administration as needed
• Apply MVC/ORM patterns to build maintainable codebases
• Collaborate with team to meet tight deadlines
• Contribute to software architecture decisions
• Support and improve deployment processes

Key requirements

• 5+ years of commercial PHP experience
• Strong MySQL knowledge including database optimization
• Linux/LAMP stack experience
• MVC and ORM familiarity
• HTML/CSS/XHTML and jQuery
• Experience with caching technologies (Memcached, Redis, or Varnish)
• Ability to work independently or in a team under tight deadlines
• E-commerce experience is advantageous
• Server administration knowledge is advantageous
• Smarty is advantageous
