Overview

In this role, you lead the Operational Risk Management program in London, supporting EMEA and global efforts. You embed risk management into day-to-day processes and collaborate with risk and COO partners to deliver strategic risk analytics aligned with growth priorities. You shape the risk agenda across governance forums, controls, and regulatory expectations. The position offers exposure to senior management and a chance to influence how Apollo scales its risk framework in a dynamic, global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee adherence to the ORM framework in London and EMEA, including governance of the Risk & Control Inventory, Incident, Issue, and Key Risk Indicator management.
  • Report to the Head of ORM with a dotted line to the Regional COO; communicate key themes to Risk Forums and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate administrative and governance activities of the ORM team; manage risk forums, policy reviews, and due diligence meetings.
  • Support the execution of the Target Operating Model for ORM; define strategic objectives, develop risk assessment pipelines, and drive risk analytics with business partners and the COO community.
  • Develop and maintain the risk training program to align with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key requirements

  • 15+ years in financial services (preferably asset management, credit, or private equity) with risk management, internal controls, or organizational transformation experience.
  • Proven leadership capable of influencing senior business leaders and acting as a strategic partner.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail; advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with GRC tools (e.g., Archer).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical thinking with clear written and oral communication.
  • Change agent with a focus on automation and process improvement; familiarity with ICARA processes a plus.
  • Experience with AI or analytics for big data; prior exposure to Enterprise Risk or other risk areas (market or credit) is beneficial.
