Lead Engineer

Overview

In this Lead Engineer role, you supervise day-shift maintenance of building systems within a defined contract area. You will drive planned preventive upkeep and respond to faults, ensuring reliable operation of mechanical and electrical plant. You’ll work closely with a delivery-focused team to optimize spares, schedules, and performance, contributing to a culture of dedicated, dependable service. This is a hands-on position in a customer-centric facilities team at Smart.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine PPM on mechanical and electrical plant per site schedules and assets
• Handle reactive maintenance and identify improvement opportunities across the building
• Rectify plant faults promptly to keep systems in service
• Ensure availability of suitable spare parts for maintenance and repairs
• Provide parts lists and estimated timelines for remedial works
• Address concessionary stores and fabric-related tasks as needed
• Maintain equipment to defined electrical/mechanical criteria
• Operate and maintain systems with humidity and temperature control requirements

Key requirements

• Experience in maintaining tight humidity & temperature controlled environments
• Broad knowledge of Heating & Ventilation / Air Conditioning and building support systems
• Experience with CAFM systems
• Experience maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment to defined criteria
• Qualified to NVQ Level 2/3 Electrical Installations or equivalent
• 17th/18th Edition wiring regulations
