Senior Project Planner

Overview

In this Senior Planner role, you will lead the development and maintenance of integrated project schedules for major infrastructure and energy programmes. You’ll work with project managers, commercial teams and clients to keep programmes on track, while proactively identifying risks and recovery options. You will mentor junior planners and contribute to advancing planning standards within the team. The role offers exposure to multi-project environments and significant influence on delivery decisions in a hybrid Scotland-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning across multiple projects or complex programmes
• Develop and maintain detailed schedules using industry-standard software
• Create integrated programmes reflecting scope, milestones and dependencies
• Maintain programme information per contractual and governance requirements
• Collaborate with teams to define scope, sequencing and delivery strategies
• Monitor performance, identify critical paths and assess impact of delays/change
• Analyse schedule risks and propose mitigations
• Produce updates, progress reviews and dashboards for stakeholders
• Contribute to planning standards and process improvements
• Mentor junior planners and promote best practices

Key requirements

• Experience delivering planning services on major infrastructure, engineering, utilities, energy or construction projects
• Experience with planning across full project lifecycle
• Developing and maintaining complex programmes
• Primavera P6 and other planning software
• Critical path analysis, float analysis and programme optimisation
• Integrated master schedules and multi-project environments
• Progress reporting, forecasting and performance monitoring
• Schedule risk analysis and change management
• Earned Value Management (EVM)
• Working under NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
• Stakeholder engagement across client, contractor and consultant teams
• Coaching and mentoring junior planning professionals
