Lead Data Scientist – Loans

Overview

In this Lead Data Scientist role, you will steer the data science function within a consumer lending context, shaping credit models and data environments. You will own end-to-end work across credit modelling, customer analytics, and model monitoring to impact underwriting performance. You’ll collaborate across teams to adapt models to evolving business needs and drive data-led decisions. This opportunity combines hands-on technical leadership with exposure to a dynamic, startup-like culture in West London.

Responsibilities

• Review data to develop new models for customer acquisition, retention, evaluation, and default risk
• Develop models beyond credit modelling scope
• Monitor production underwriting models and scorecards and report on performance
• Enhance existing models/scorecards to meet changing business needs
• Support and build stored procedures (MSSQL) as needed

Key requirements

• Strong MSSQL
• Power BI
• SAS
• Experience in financial services, preferably retail finance
• Clear English communication (verbal and written)
