Principal / Associate Mechanical Engineer (MOD)

Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical engineering delivery for building services, with a focus on MOD projects, as the Lancashire office is established. You will work with clients, contractors and project teams to drive projects from inception to completion, initially remotely and later from a new local office. You’ll provide technical guidance, oversee design outputs, and mentor juniors, shaping the growth of our client’s presence in Lancashire. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering projects in the building services sector with emphasis on MOD projects, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule compliance
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and MOD representatives
• Provide technical guidance across feasibility, concept design, detailed design and construction phases
• Oversee production of technical specifications, calculations, drawings and reports
• Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress and compliance
• Mentor and develop junior team members and promote knowledge sharing
• Stay updated with industry trends, codes, regulations and advancements in building services and mechanical engineering

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent accreditation
• Extensive experience on building services projects with proven MOD project delivery
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Proficiency in design software and tools
• Strong leadership and team-management abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, proactive and innovative problem-solver
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel and work remotely until office setup
