Fire Safety Advisor

Overview

In this Band 6 role you will support the Trust’s fire safety management system, ensuring statutory and NHS compliance. You’ll carry out fire risk assessments, aid fire safety training, and help implement the Fire Safety Strategy across Trust-wide services. Collaborating within a matrix environment, you promote a positive fire safety culture, support evacuations, and contribute to continuous improvement in fire safety programmes.

Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Fire Safety Manager in delivering the fire safety management system and regulatory compliance
• Conduct fire risk assessments under supervision and track resulting actions
• Provide operational fire safety guidance to clinical and non-clinical teams
• Assist with fire incident investigations and disseminate lessons learned
• Maintain fire safety documentation (risk assessments, action plans, training records, drill reports, compliance evidence)
• Support fire safety training delivery (inductions, refresher sessions, Fire Wardens guidance)
• Input and maintain fire safety data in digital compliance systems and generate basic dashboards/reports
• Contribute to policy development, audits, benchmarking and evaluation of new fire safety technologies

Key requirements

• Fire Safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate)
• Has worked within Healthcare or a large organisation
• Good understanding of fire safety legislation
• Ability to conduct fire risk assessments
