Senior Contaminant Hydrogeologist / Groundwater Modeller | Energy Sector

Overview

In this role you apply hydrogeology to understand contaminant movement and groundwater interactions, shaping risk assessments and remediation decisions. You will join a collaborative Energy and Resources team delivering end-to-end projects for contaminated land and groundwater systems. You’ll develop conceptual site models and model groundwater fate with clients and regulators, contributing to outcomes that protect water resources. The position offers growth, mentorship of junior colleagues, and opportunities to work across multiple sites and disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design field investigations and groundwater monitoring plans
• Interpret hydrogeological data and develop risk assessments
• Develop and apply conceptual site models for soil, groundwater, surface water and ground gas
• Build and refine groundwater flow and contaminant transport models
• Contribute to ground investigation design and data consolidation of chemical/geological datasets
• Prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to clients and regulators
• Mentor junior colleagues and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Travel to UK offices and project sites as required

Key requirements

• Degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline
• MSc or PhD preferred but not essential
• Experience in hydrogeology, contaminated land assessment, groundwater risk assessment or environmental consultancy
• Proficiency in conceptual site model development, groundwater modelling and data consolidation
• Ability to prepare clear technical reports and communicate with clients and regulators
• Experience with ArcGIS is advantageous
