Senior Heritage Consultant – Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle

In this role, you lead fieldwork projects within a leading heritage team, delivering bespoke archaeological strategies for developments and infrastructure. You will work across the UK and Ireland, coordinating multi-disciplinary work and maintaining client relationships, while promoting the team’s broad heritage services. You will help shape the future of heritage solutions within a global engineering firm, contributing to high-profile projects and innovative approaches. You drive successful delivery under safety and regulatory standards and pursue business development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead fieldwork projects from planning and consent applications
• Design and deliver archaeological fieldwork scopes and methodologies
• Monitor and assure work of WSP-approved subcontractors (including RAMS)
• Prepare competitive tenders and ensure alignment with Health and Safety protocols
• Produce or contribute to archaeological desk-based assessments
• Undertake stakeholder, curator and client liaison
• Identify and pursue business development and marketing opportunities
• Promote and diversify the team service offering and win work
• Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams on heritage-related projects

Key requirements

• Experience of archaeological fieldwork project management (project, financial and staff management)
• Robust knowledge of Ireland archaeology and history
• Full knowledge of the planning process and relevant environmental/heritage legislation in Ireland
• Experience in heritage and planning, masterplanning, heritage conservation, heritage-led regeneration, placemaking, multi-disciplinary collaboration and business development
• Excellent writing skills, strong communicational ability, and team-oriented mindset
• Motivated, conscientious, and able to meet deadlines and budgets in a consultancy environment
