Deputy Director

Overview

In this senior role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock, driving safe, high-quality community care. You will shape service delivery, lead multidisciplinary teams, and build strong system partnerships to meet local and Trust-wide priorities. The position offers scope to drive transformation and improvements in patient experience while aligning with the Trust’s values and regional health strategy. You will influence across partners and stakeholders to deliver integrated, patient-centered care at scale.

Responsibilities

• Deputise for the Service Director externally and internally on all directorate aspects
• Build and sustain effective partnerships with ICBs, Local Authorities, Acute Trusts and other providers
• Ensure cohesive system-wide communication enabling positive patient outcomes
• Cascade decisions, policies and learning to staff to ensure safe, effective services
• Communicate escalations promptly to protect Trust reputation and responsiveness
• Set and review objectives aligned with strategic developments within the Services
• Collaborate with patients and carers towards high standards of care
• Coordinate services to deliver care with minimal restriction and disruption
• Hold budgetary responsibility for all service areas within remit
• Report against targets and provide insights on Directorate performance
• Develop patient-centered decision-making processes
• Support staff development, training, and career progression
• Promote inclusive, positive views of health and social care
• Engage across all business areas to improve physical and mental health outcomes
• Maintain compliance with Section 75/sub-contract arrangements
• Foster patient and public involvement in decision-making

Key requirements

• Senior management experience with a proven track record of leading complex services
• Experience in organisational change and delivering sustainable quality improvements
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-system partners and stakeholders
• Budgetary accountability and performance reporting experience
