Principal Cost Controls Specialist

Overview

In this role you drive cost and schedule control for large EPC projects, solving complex issues with minimal guidance. You’ll lead the project cost team, shape cost systems, and ensure accurate reporting to enable informed decisions. You work closely with cross-functional teams to implement cost and change-management processes. This is a hands-on leadership role with a focus on risk, forecast accuracy, and continuous improvement in a megaproject environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project cost team on a large EPC LNG project
• Support the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
• Implement internal and contractual requirements via the cost controls plan
• Lead setup and implementation of project cost systems
• Ensure accuracy of project cost reports
• Analyze cost forecasting and trending
• Recommend recovery plans for problem areas
• Lead monthly forecast preparation and review
• Develop cost spread and cash flows
• Supervise and train junior personnel in cost reporting
• Implement and support Change Management processes
• Lead cost review meetings with management
• Support Project Risk and Opportunity processes
• Participate in weekly/monthly cost and schedule reviews
• Create Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Reports
• Assist in resource planning, recruiting, mentoring, and evaluations

Key requirements

• 10+ years in Project Controls on mega EPC projects in Oil & Gas
• Strong experience with EVM, project planning, risk analysis, change management
• Cost-centric with emphasis on Cost, Risk, and Change Management
• Basic understanding of JDE Edwards (plus)
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
