Utilities Maintenance Engineer

Overview

In this Utilities Maintenance Shift Engineer role, you ensure safe, reliable operation of site utility systems and equipment. You perform planned maintenance, diagnose faults, and drive improvements to maximise uptime and energy efficiency. You will work in a GMP-regulated environment, collaborating with production, contractors, and projects to sustain operational excellence. The position supports SDLC-like reliability goals across a Swindon site with a strong safety, quality, and customer-focus culture. This is a hands-on role with a clear impact on product quality and site performance.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance on utility systems and plant equipment
• Diagnose faults quickly and respond to breakdowns
• Drive continuous improvement to maximise reliability, uptime, product quality, and energy efficiency
• Provide technical expertise within a GMP environment
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with production teams, contractors, and project teams to implement improvements

Key requirements

• Proven engineering experience in a maintenance or utilities environment
• Completed a recognised relevant apprenticeship or equivalent Mechanical or Electrical qualification
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Experience with CMMS and Microsoft Office
• Essential: HVAC, boilers, refrigeration, chilled water, purified water, cooling towers, vacuum systems, and freeze dryers experience
• Desirable: experience in a GMP or regulated manufacturing environment
