Python Software Engineer – Intraday Trading

Overview

In this role you will develop and optimize real-time analytics and market data solutions for Millennium’s intraday trading and portfolio management platforms. You’ll collaborate with R&D and front-office teams to deliver scalable, high-performance systems that support in-the-moment decision making. You will shape intraday analytics capabilities, backtesting tools, and risk analytics for live portfolios, contributing to a mission of disciplined risk management and continuous learning. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on trading workflows and technology leadership.

Responsibilities

• Partner with R&D and application teams to design and implement real-time analytics and market data solutions
• Contribute to a market-leading portfolio management platform in close collaboration with business users
• Develop and support intraday analytics platforms used across risk and portfolio management systems
• Deliver scalable, high-performance solutions for real-time trading and analytics workflows
• Contribute to architecture and delivery of highly scalable real-time systems

Key requirements

• 5+ years of Python application development
• Solid Linux experience
• Experience with grid scheduling/compute orchestration (e.g., SLURM)
• Strong knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging/cache tech (Kafka, Solace, Pulsar, Memcache, Redis)
• Experience building AI RAG and MCP agents
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Datadog, ELK)
• Strong database knowledge (SQL, NoSQL, time-series like Kdb)
• Solid data structures/algorithms, ability to learn quickly
• Interest in financial markets; experience with large-scale real-time portfolio analytics tools; cloud platforms; containerization (Docker, Kubernetes); knowledge of multi-threaded C++ is a plus
