Data Science Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead and inspire a team of Data Scientists to deliver bespoke machine learning solutions that address client challenges. You will drive end-to-end data science work, from discovery analytics to deployment, shaping the analytical direction for client teams. You’ll work with cross-functional partners to scale models and develop reusable assets, while contributing to sales activities and client communications. This is an opportunity to influence complex projects within a global, innovative Data & AI practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and inspire teams of Data Scientists
• Create bespoke machine learning solutions to model/solve problems and develop the team
• Solve challenging business problems using advanced ML methods (e.g., Deep Learning, quantitative analytics)
• Understand business requirements and support business case development
• Run discovery analytics to identify new opportunities
• Partner with developers/engineers to deploy and scale ML models on critical projects
• Devise reusable assets and best practices for future problems
• Lead analytical discussions and influence client analytical direction
• Communicate and guide senior client leadership and teams
• Contribute data science expertise to new sales activities

Key requirements

• Relevant work experience in data science, machine learning, and business analytics
• Proficiency in coding languages (Python, R, Scala)
• Strong database tech expertise (SQL, ETL, No-SQL, DW) and Big Data tools (pySpark, Hive)
• Experience with structured and unstructured data (text, PDFs, images, audio/video)
• Knowledge of ML techniques and model fine-tuning (e.g., XGBoost, Deep Neural Networks, Transformers)
• Experience with ML libraries (Fastai, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, HuggingFace)
• Ability to learn new techniques and apply them quickly
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Specialised visualization skills (D3.js, ggplot)
• Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills
