Lead Cyber Security Engineer

Overview

In this senior role you will lead the design and delivery of enterprise-wide security platforms and capabilities. You’ll drive strategic security engineering initiatives across vulnerability, application, and AI security, while shaping threat modelling, analytics, and governance metrics. You will build and manage a high-performing security engineering function, delivering automated services that improve resilience and align with regulatory needs. This is a high-visibility opportunity to influence security posture in a global financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and continuous improvement of cyber security tooling and platforms
• Drive vulnerability/ exposure management and security posture across complex tech estates
• Develop and refine application security, API security, AI security, and threat modelling capabilities
• Establish security metrics, reporting, and analytics platforms to measure control effectiveness
• Build automation-first engineering practices and integrate security into DevOps and development pipelines
• Partner with senior technology and business stakeholders to align security strategy with objectives
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee security technology selection and optimization

Key requirements

• Significant experience leading security engineering teams in complex, highly regulated environments
• Strong background in cyber security engineering, architecture, vulnerability management, and application security
• Proven track record delivering large-scale security platforms from strategy to operation
• Expertise in automation, cloud technologies, analytics, and security tooling integration
• Comfort engaging executive stakeholders and translating risk into practical engineering outcomes
• Experience in financial services, capital markets, banking, or critical infrastructure is highly desirable
