Overview

In this role you lead a regional Sales Engineering team at Datadog, guiding technical pre-sales activities to qualify and close opportunities. You act as the hands-on regional technical lead, partnering with Sales and cross-functional teams to articulate Datadog’s value and drive customer success in pre-sale engagements. You’ll coach, recruit, and develop talent while enabling the SE team to cover Datadog solutions and technical evaluations. This is a growth-focused, collaborative role in a hybrid environment with a strong culture of mentorship and impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a regional team of Sales Engineers and frontline leaders
  • Drive recruitment and ramp programs for new hires and future leaders
  • Ensure the SE team is enabled to support all Datadog solutions and develop both technical and soft skills
  • Own and execute evaluation plans (POCs) with customers and mentor team on best practices
  • Partner with Sales to present Datadog value proposition and strategy to customers
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Support, and Enablement to align pre- and post-sales activities
  • Conduct semi-annual performance reviews and develop individual development plans
  • Support customer-facing activities and engagements as the regional technical lead
  • Foster strong cross-functional partnerships and enablement across the organization
  • Promote an inclusive, collaborative culture and continuous professional development
  • Support recruiting efforts to attract top talent within the region

Key requirements

  • 1–3+ years in a Sales Engineering team lead or mentorship role
  • 3+ years in a Sales Engineering or other client-facing role
  • Proven ability to grow and develop a team
  • Experience in recruiting both individual contributors and front-line leaders
  • Knowledge of current infrastructure and monitoring solutions and technologies
  • Ability to build and execute customer evaluation plans and mentor others
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate both business value and technical advantages of offerings
