Overview

In this role, you will shape and implement HR and recruitment practices for a growing SME near Epping. You’ll support operational managers, uphold safety and compliance, and help improve the employee experience across multi-site operations. You’ll balance strategic HR initiatives with day-to-day ER, recruitment, onboarding, and data management to drive culture and growth. This hands-on position offers scope to influence people practices and leadership capability in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver results that support organizational change and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end recruitment for operational roles and drivers across sites
  • Oversee screening, competency assessments, and interview frameworks
  • Manage right-to-work checks, DBS, and compliance activities
  • Serve as primary HR contact for managers on ER, conduct, performance, attendance, investigations
  • Lead disciplinaries, grievances, and other ER processes as needed
  • Maintain accurate HR data, records, and training logs
  • Lead onboarding and induction with compliance, health & safety, and environmental training
  • Keep HR policies aligned with legislation and industry regulations
  • Foster relationships across the business to support changes and improvements
  • Lead culture, employee engagement, and leadership development initiatives
  • Support training, health and safety, and related activities

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in a HR Advisor or standalone Manager role
  • Experience in full recruitment processes in a high-volume environment
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience supporting managers in fast-paced environments (engineering, manufacturing, or logistics)
  • Proven ability to build relationships and coach managers
  • Understanding and experience of H&S processes in a business
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with prioritisation
  • Confident decision-maker, adaptable and resilient
  • Level 3 or 5 CIPD qualification
  • Hands-on, proactive approach in a varied HR role
